Re: RenMX 4th server suggestions
I was thinking along the lines of a prop hunt server, so you could join the server into whatever round people are on and type a simple command to join props or the hunters. You do a command to turn into whatever block you want to be, a quick idea after a lot of gmod playing
Fuck homework, I mean this as it sucks. Don't actually fuck your homework.

Re: RenMX 4th server suggestions
Ok, clearly some people are going to be happy whilst the other half aren't going to like it.
The general consensus is some kind of RPG'ish server.
Instead of a full RPG server make an "Event server". You can move the contest area to there. Seeing as people want to create something together I was thinking a dungeon type event or even a full adventure map. It has been done in the past and to my knowledge it went well. (Please correct me on that last statement if it did not).
A while back there was an event, where a group of 6 people completed a dungeon and the reward was a Dragon Egg - Here's the video

I think on the new server there would be another dungeon event every so often that "X or Y" could build it and then the others would complete it for a reward.
Personally i'd like the RPG server but it also pulls attention away from the Survival server which is the main focus of this server.

Yeah, I was thinking PvP too, but more like the battlegrounds in WoW. Capture the Flag, Domination, etc.

Re: RenMX 4th server suggestions
God i remember back we had tekkit. Im pretty certain pri would rather shoot himself in the foot than do that again. But feed the beast does make better sense as it dosent have all the weapons of ultimate destruction, which was the problem we had with tekkit.

Re: RenMX 4th server suggestions
If we do tekkit/FTB again, I suggest keeping the modpack the same so pri dousen't have to explain to someones wife why there husband suicided. And make it pvp/greif, so plugin's don't have to be so complicated

Re: RenMX 4th server suggestions
I'm not going to argue it, but I'm curious as to why? All I know is you said it took too much attention from Survival. Was it hell to run?Pri wrote:We will never offer a modded pack again. Period.

Re: RenMX 4th server suggestions
There are two main issues with hosting modpacks, but in short they kill servers.
1. If we offer a modpack which then fizzles out, stops being cool or stops being updated. We are stuck hosting it due to a core subset of our players still playing it and loving the server. So we get stuck offering and supporting a mod pack that the majority of people don't care about to appease a few core loyal players.
2. The people who play mod packs often jump ship to the flavour of the month. Tekkit then FTB then that Pokemon mod and so on. So to keep the server actually popular requires us to keep jumping from mod pack to mod pack which then pisses off the loyal players who stick with us for one specific mod pack.
So there you have it. No matter which way you go with offering a mod pack you get screwed. Either stuck offering an unpopular mod or forever switching mods and never curating a loyal fan base that is the basis of our servers success, that cohesive jovial atmosphere we have.

Re: RenMX 4th server suggestions
I feel the same way pri does. personally i do not like the RPG ideas i feel it wont last. we tried anarchy. skyblock is already losing its appeal. there is not many decent mods out there. something i do like is skywars its very fun and different from normal gameplay its just like hunger games but with fighting in the sky on islands like skyblock is. maybe having a vanilla server with the new 1.8 in it. but i feel it will take people away from our normal survival. i think its a tough decision to make.
so i think having a games server would be best. if its possible to change the games weekly like skywars, hunger games, etc which will keep things fresh, not boring, and not take people away too much from our normal gameplay servers. like pri said people get bored of mods and you will have players who will want to stay on a modded server and continue their work. a game server will not have this type of issue since games will be changed weekly or bi weekly etc.
thats my two cents
