Hello folks, as you are probably aware within the next few weeks Mojang will be releasing the 1.7 Minecraft update.
This is a very big update that changes many different aspects of the game including the way world data is stored. This is very important because once we update to 1.7 we cannot revert back to 1.6.4 due to all the under the hood changes that will occur during the upgrade process.
It is for this reason we will not be updating to 1.7 until a stable build of Bukkit (and by extension, Spigot) is available. This means it could be and more than 2 to 3 weeks after the release of 1.7 before we update our server to it.
I saw that when we updated from 1.6.3 to 1.6.4 that many players had no issue with keeping their client at 1.6.3 due to the new launcher allowing you to specifically pick which version of Minecraft to run. Thus I want you to continue to keep your game clients at 1.6.4 even after 1.7 releases until our server is updated.
Hopefully when we do finally update to 1.7 it will be a seamless experience with all our plugins and custom software working and without game crippling bugs, oh and yes we will be expanding the border 60% when we finally do update to 1.7.
Feel free to post your views about this decision below, they are as always welcomed.
