iPhone 5 Customisation

So as you all probably know a Jailbreak was released for all iOS 6.0/6.1 capable devices a few days ago. It has been a really long time since I've jailbroken any of my iOS devices. Last time was when I had an iPhone 3GS in I think 2010.

Anyway jailbreaking has really come a long way and I thought it would be neat to show off some of the enhancements I installed. They are mainly just minimal things cause that's how I like my phone, minimal.

Click any of the images to view them full size. On the far left is the lock screen, then in the centre is my home screen and on the far right is the notification pull down menu.

Here is the things I've changed:

Lockscreen
  • Changed the bottom slide bar to just a nice gray line and removed the camera icon
Home Screen
  • Increased icons per row to 5
  • Removed text labels of icons
  • Reduced icon size to 90% of their original size
  • Applied a theme called Newport for the icons and top menubar ($1.99)
Pulldown Notification Menu
  • Added NCSettings so I can turn on/off many settings and adjust Brightness/Sound etc
  • Made the background transparent and added a blur effect
To get some of these things I had to install Winterboard (Free) and Springtomize 2 ($2.99). Springtomize is a great app it is what allowed me to have 5 icons per row, change icon sizes, remove text from icons and many other modifications. Great application.

So this is what I've done so far and I'm going to add DashboardX I think. It allows you to install widgets like the Weather/Stocks/Tweeting things you see on the notification menu in to your home screen where your App Icons are. I'm also going to install Auxo which is a great task manager.

I know some of you guys have iPads, iPhone and iPod Touches so what have you been customizing? Pictures and details!

I did something similar to this with my Iphone 4, it doesn't suffer much at all in battery performance. Although, if you jailbroke a 3g model then the phone destroys itself... Mine did 2 years ago lol

I tried on my iPod Touch 3 8GB.

It didn't end well, that's for sure!

I tried jailbreaking my iPhone 3GS. it didn't succeed.

But then, the second time, it went fine.

Ok, I have a few suggestions. First I will start off by saying that I love dashboard x. I love the widgets being right there. A suggestion for NCSettings/Notification center is jukebox. It gives you music playback right in notification center. Here is a screenshot I took of both.

Also, another application that is neat is dream board. From my experiences, it doesn't work so well on the iPad, but it worked alright on my old iPod touch 2g. It is a simple theme application that you can go into to apply more transforming themes that you can download. ( You can make your device look like it is running android, Mac osx, etc.)

Those are some of my comments on this matter. I like them a lot.

another great tweak is Auxo. its a redesign for the app switcher. if you scroll to the left once, you have music controls, and if you scroll again you get tons of toggles (2 rows).

Thought I might add something to this. It's a fun little tweak if you like it. It's called Harlem shake and it makes object/icons icons on your home screen or locksceen dance around while it plays the music. Here's a still of what it looks like:

I like this tweak, it's fun to watch.
