Hi everyone,
I am in the process of planning my first build.
I tend to plan a lot... but I hope it can help someone else
I started by buying the Steam game PC Building Simulator:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/6210 ... Simulator/
It helped me knowing the computer parts, shows a bit how everything works together, doing comparison with different parts.
Its not a real life simulator, but can help a bit, I guess...
Instead of buying the game, of course there are tons of Youtube videos you can watch:
Paul's Hardware AMD parts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCDeOACWTDs (series that covers a lot of info!)
Paul's Hardware AMD install: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFyhn6seoow (series that covers a lot of info!)
Paul's Hardware AMD setup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvSYOiJCN_E (series that covers a lot of info!)
Paul's Hardware AMD upgrade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkziMKEqUIM (series that covers a lot of info!)
Paul's Hardware AMD after install 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbpqkiaO7q4
Paul's Hardware AMD after install 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xURz-SSQUVY
Paul's Hardware How To Set Up a New PC!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfwjISmkEJM
Bitwit AMD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhX0fOUYd8Q (more detailed than Paul)
TechSource Intel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZaFqY8UF6I (more detailed than Paul and overclock tips at the end)
JayzTwoCents Intel (Old): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1Q8ksRI1Eo (add a lot of tips, but skips over many details)
JayzTwoCents AMD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHAelSOF6f0 (add a lot of tips, but skips over many details)
I already knew about these 2 links:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/wiki/builds (complete build lists, updated monthly)
https://pcpartpicker.com/ (saving your lists, helping to buy the parts)
Recently I found these 2 links, which helps a lot in choosing the parts:
http://www.userbenchmark.com/PCBuilder (compare builds)
http://www.logicalincrements.com/ (figure out a balanced pc for a specific budget)
If someone that has no clue (like me ) is asking you questions, the last link is especially useful!
Do you have other tips / websites / youtube channel suggestions ?

Other links that helped me:
JonnyGuru reviews power supply, I found the review section a bit hard to use, easier to simply search the whole site :
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?na ... SiteSearch
Tip: before buying RAM (expecially for AMD Ryzen), make sure that it will work by verifying the official compatibility list of the Motherboard and specifically for your GPU.
For example: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support ... ort-mem-14

The video that helped me the most while building my first pc:
TechSource - How To Build A Gaming PC - FULL Beginners Guide
https://youtu.be/OZaFqY8UF6I
It is really step by step and easy to follow, doesn't skip steps, but is Intel.
You will need to look another video to install the Ryzen processor, but all the rest is identical.
I didnt saw that he made a Ryzen video:
TechSource - How to Build A Gaming PC - 2018 (+Overclocking Guide)
https://youtu.be/-Wn3T8u3G00
I will need to look at its Overclocking part
