Hey, Hairy here

I asked a friend of mine who knows how to build a computer to make me one, and I said I would pay for it. Im gonna be paying him $2500 Canadian($2000 for the computer, $500 for him.) It's going to be for gaming and he's given me links to all the parts he plans on buying. Just wanna check if it's worth the money.

Indeed, it'd be way easier and cheaper* to simply build it by yourself.
I really cannot see why people think piecing together computers is hard, I mean, it's just like legos except with real expensive stuff and not just simple plastic bricks.

There are a lot of guides on the internet detailing the process of building a computer, step by step.
If you're unsure on how to build one correctly, simply look it up or ask your friend (unless he's charging you for advice too).

The 500$ commission was my choice for payment not his, and He'll also probably do all free repairs and other stuff for free for me as well. The extra 500$ will most likely be additional money spent with me that he uses.

Ha assembling it will take him most likely a day or two if it is a basic setup. Overall the work would be worth more around $30.

Even if you took it to a Best Buy/Staples/crazy Canadian equivalent, they would still only charge you $100 ish for assembly/repairs. Just keep that in mind.
