How to protect your constructions on our Survival Server

Thu Jan 05, 2012 1:47 pm

To make things very simple we use a plugin called Precious Stones on our survival server.

The reason I say it is simple is because you don't need to use any commands to protect your stuff. All you need to do is craft a diamond block and place it down anywhere. Everything within a 20 block radius to that diamond block is now protected and only you can place or remove blocks within that area. If you need to increase your protected area you simply make another diamond block and place that down. If thy two areas are overlapping a little (for example if they are 30 blocks apart meaning the two 20 block areas are overlaping) then you can treat it as one big area and any commands you use to manipulate this area (to for example add more players to your area for building) will affect the whole area you defined with all your diamond blocks.

Now lets say you setup a protected zone like I said above and you want to add your friend to it. Simply type this command: /ps allow VodkaDK In this example I used my playername but you should obviously replace VodkaDK with the name of the user you want to have full build rights within your protected area.

You can also allow entire groups build rights in your area. For example typing: /ps allow g:Architect would allow all Architects to build in your area but no other player groups. Of course you yourself would still have build rights here and still have ownership over the protected zone regardless of your own group.

Precious stones is an incredibly versatile program that lets you create all kinds of areas using just blocks. Another example is when you place down a Jukebox block. This becomes a proximity sensor and whenever a player enters your defined area you can go to your Jukebox, right click it and it will tell you a list of all the players that entered your area and at what times. You can clear this log by typing /ps snitch clear and if you want to view this log of your area without right clicking the Jukebox you can just type /ps snitch

Below I am going to link to the plugin makers documentation images. But if you want the full rundown on how to use this plugin visit the plugin page at bukkit here.

Nice. Do you have to spawn spider webs though?
