I made a strange tanka poem.
Halloween
Cold chills in the town
pumpkins, decor, everywhere
nights get longer and
mischevous spirits roam free
causing cold chills in the town
I dunno what I was thinking making this one
A simple trip
I was waking down the sidewalk and saw a ghost
it really wasn't what I wanted to see the most
then I saw, a vampire, a witch, a creeper, a dirty hobo fella
prancing down a street like a little ballerina
I ran home with a movement that was quick
to escape the horrors that made me feel sick
I then tripped under panic
with a speed slower than sanic
onto a a piece of paper that reminded me it was october thirty first
I felt relieved because I knew I wasn't going to be cursed
then I realized my mistake
that will make me the object of hate
because I forgotten to take
a trip to the store for candy

I sit in my bed, praying not to get eaten,
for my current protector is currently sleeping.
What could eat me? I don't really know,
but it had big red eyes and furry black toes.
I hold my bat, holding it at the ready,
I hear a faint noise, but who could it be?
was it the monster, ready eat?
or could it be my odd sister Bette?
Tis is Halloween night, when monsters are roaming,
I have machine to let me hear whats coming.
I hear my monster coming, and open my door,
i wack at it in the head, and hoping I'll live some more.
I see a Small monster! with red eyes and black toes!
i stare at the monster, and then it run and goes.
I scared it away! Im safe for the night,
though it was a monster, i hope its alright.
I thought i was safe, but apparently not,
I parents come in, and they say the monster is caught.
My sister Bette comes in, with lumps an bruises,
i see shes the monster, and then she chooses...
Clobber me, or let me be. Im a dead man,
I jump out my window, and run as fast as i can.
I forgot that Monsters are out eating some more.
Oh boy, i believe im done for.

So this poem isn't that much tied into Halloween but its a poem I wrote that took me 3 weeks to write and that I want everyone to read.
Depression
Depression are gray, dull clouds
With a ray on sunshine trying to peak through,
but can't...
Depression sounds like a room of laughing children,
with no sound escaping from their struggling mouths,
as they try to make the smallest of sounds...
Depression taste like stale, flavorless crackers,
that you have to shove down your dry irritable throat,
with no water to wash down the pain...
Depression smells like a strong perfume,
that no one can bear,
it suffocates your nostrils with one whiff...
Depression looks like a child in a sweet shop,
with no money to buy his desires...
Depression feels like nothingness,
you want to feel something,
no matter how small,
but can't...
Depression is the line that crosses sorrow,
way beyond the point,
of no return...

Halloween Night
Halloween is here, what a wonderful time, there will be laughter and scares, but do beware! Ghosts lurk, drifting in the moonlit air, finding souls for them to keep due to their horrible despair.
There also will be monsters, oh so scary, with big red eyes and some even hairy!
You will see buckets of candy, overflowing from the top, and children everywhere, some halting to a stop. Children quiver and shiver as a ghoul passes by, to only realize it is a cruel man in disguise. Yes, the one man that dresses to his best every year, giving children a sense of fear.
But this is Halloween, don't pout, it is only a person inside and out!
The children walk on, going door to door, as an electronic monster crawls on the floor.
You get it now! This is what Halloween is all about, it is fun you see, so stop the doubt and roam free! Let the Halloween Spirit illuminate your way, let nothing stop you, this is your day!

A Halloween Poem, by MaxTheHuman
There is only one time a year I am social
When this time comes I feel like a celebrity
Many people gather in parties and like to talk to me
Some of them are rather strange, others pretty
This time of year is in October
People gather around a board
They do this for fun and excitement
But they flock like a hoard
This gets far too overwhelming
I feel pressured to talk each year
I want to bring happiness and excitement
These people love to talk to me and I love to hear
But each year it's the same question
"How is it that you died"
These people don't understand how hard it is
In order to get the answer they have to pry
I try my best to answer
I don't want to fill them with fear
But they pry for the answer and I must reply
I was like them one year
I decided to play a game
Me and friends in a Skype call
I brought out the board
Gleefully brought it down the hall
I tried to run
tried to hide
but you can't hide from what you bring
from the other side

October
Bluest skies you’ve ever seen,
That smell of bonfires burning in the distance.
That cool, crisp air that makes your lungs tingle.
That early darkness; those watercolour sunsets.
Oranges, reds and yellows finding their way down to the ground,
We stand at the gate to Winter.
We ready ourselves to follow that path we know so well.
We listen to the last of the Autumn song.
Blackest nights you’ve ever seen,
As pinpricks glimmer through evening’s curtain.
As spiders dance on frosted street lamps.
As the world goes on and on.

Comes after Sunbathing,
Comes before thanksgiving,
Children got my head aching
When the house door is knocking,
With their trick or treat, it's annoying.
This month we go drunk
So what, we bought beer
We're not out of funk
Having fun with peers
Octoberfest is one that never stunk.

Halloween Poem by Ep1c_J3lly
Jack 'o' lanterns warmly glow,
As the cold wind blows.
The sun begins to lower,
The evening draws closer.
Darkness rolls in,
Halloween is about to begin.
Kids swarm the streets,
Looking for some trick or treats.
The night continues,
Neighbours peer out their windows.
Scary costumes all around,
The best might get a pound.
The darkness begins to fade,
A new day is made.
Lots of candy collected,
Sore tummies to be expected.

iWesley's Halloween Poetry Contest
October is here,
Thus let autumn begin.
Yellow leaves appear,
The cold breeze on your skin.
Bats and Black Cats,
Come out and stray.
Silly devil hats,
And Halloween displays.
The Werewolves will howl,
Then the house will creak.
The hoot of the owls,
Makes you run and shriek.
Witches, ghosts,
Pumpkins and sweets.
Parties to host,
Many trick or treats.
Costumes to wear,
Masks to fright.
Scary stories to share,
To keep you up at night.
October draws to a close,
With November nearing.
The bonfire grows,
Fireworks we are hearing.
