Halloween Poetry Contest

Lol i know its really late to make any kind of legit submission, but since was banned during this i didnt get to participate, however i still kinda wanted to make one for the hell of it. So.. here is a go at it:

I walk these crowd filled streets
marveling at the creations this night has made
All of the kids here have something unique
I see one dressed like a zombie but with the bubonic plague
yet i see another looks like slade
Alas another has the attire of the devil himself
I wonder what it is this holiday is all about
what makes us all crave to go all out
we spend our money, here and there
just to give it all away for the scare
Why is it we all have to dress like monsters
Its not to just scare people for that would but a feeble reason
or is it that its to ward the evil beings off in this season
It could be that the entities we so fear walk among us at this time
Becuase we chose to devote it to such crimes
Parents always have the same fear of their kids being stolen
but the children just have fun because they dont think of that notion
Then again, they are always here, the monsters i mentioned
they dont just rest in an alternate dimension.
The soul-devourers, the life stealers, the shape-shifters
they rest among us dressed in our drab attire
waiting for the day to sate their desire
But alas, lets not dwell on this fact for too long
For the fear that rests inside is just a beacon in their thoughts.
No matter what the rhyme or reason
We are always going to do the same old thing for this season
So dress up swell and give a good scare
for you never know what lurks in the city square
