Concerning Moria...

I wanted to post a few pictures to consider, especially for those of you *AHEM* who have not read the books or seen the movies. I think that a few elements will need to be added if we really want this community project to be meaningful and act as a conversation piece for our server. Without further ado...

Here is the gate of Moria. The writing above the gate reads, among other things, "Speak friend and enter". The gate is an important part of the Moria experience, and we would do well to include it in some fashion.

Here is an example picture of the inside of Moria. The archways between the columns really add to the majesty. Also, will 30 levels of digging really be enough?

For example, here is a nice take on Moria done by another server/player. In it, you can see the bridge of Khazad-dum that I mentioned before. It acts as a defense because only a small number of individuals can pass at a time.

While the members of the Fellowship of the Ring are in the mines of Moria, they happen to encounter a Balrog, a powerful and evil creature that has slept in the earth for ages and is awakened. Gandalf faces-off with him on the bridge in the infamous "You shall not pass!" scene.

Here is a nice take on the Balrog done in Minecraft.

Yes! I have seen that warp. It is amazing! What I am referring to is the current community project coming together on the survival map that is also called Moria. It is being run by iRandomness, who incidentally has not seen the movies or read the books.
