I thought I'd gauge what the community thinks. At the moment it's 3 months / 90 days. I've added some options to the poll please vote on what you think :)

Please note this only applies to builds that aren't towns as we do not allow land to be claimed at all if it is protected by a town.

I think 9 months is perfectly fine, I do believe the 3 months is way to short, I seen a lot of great builders take breaks from time to time and come back to finish. I just hate for it to come down to picking and choosing builds that people can rip down.

I agree I think 9 months is fair. That's coming from a guy whom likes claiming builds lol.

As much as looting is fun, I definitely agree with 9 months. I have seen a lot of people take breaks that last around that long (myself included). This server is just too amazing for anyone to leave for longer than that :P

Maybe the 3 month rule could still exist but only apply to people who had only played on the server for 3 months or less before leaving? That way does make a lot of sense for the people who join the server for 10 minutes and then leave forever.

I don't think it should be 9 months I feel that's way too long. Because players Come on for 5 mins once every 4 months just to try stuff out then they leave. Cluttering up the server. If anything I believe it should either stay the same way we have been doing it for ages or push it to 5-6 months. :)

See I'm not really thinking about the people who come on for 1 day and never come back again, no one really claims those anyway its just mostly a simple box house and one chests those people leave behind, I'm looking at a bigger picture of the bigger builds people have put a lot of time into. One of the main appeals to me when I joined this server was the promise of all my builds being safe and the server never resetting.

But let's face it people are 90% build claiming for chests and expensive blocks. Not 10x10 Block huts with a chest of starter gear and some mushroom soup. I just really think we should be putting a little more time on their builds to give the benefit of the doubt.

I really like ZapperZ idea of maybe separate the rules into two sections. One for people who have played then less then a week have the builds set for 3 months. And players who have played for months or even years a 6-9 month grace period.

That's what i was talking about people that come on for 6 months then leave and stuff. I'm using Explorer790, my friend as an example. he comes online to keep his stuff from being claimed by joining for 5 mins. that's what i wasn't talking about.

After thinking about it, I'm regretting voting for 6 months. :? I think, coming from personal experience, that 6 months is too short of time if something big comes up unless something can be said ahead of time, such as what Failure suggested (although I think that might already be something in place).
