Ideas for SMP server!

I've decided to scratch the whole professions thing. We are just going vanilla SMP.

This is how things are gonna be set on the server:

1. We will be using Stargates instead of warps. Any player can create a stargate it requires Obsidian Blocks.
2. Only Mods/Admins will be allowed to TP to players and they must not abuse this. This is only to help players settle disbutes and things.
3. We will have Logblock on the server, all players will be able to see logs of blocks not just staff.
4. We will not have Flying or Magic Carpet
5. You will need to farm your own materials to build (obviously)
6. The server will require all Towns/Cities to be linked to the spawn in some way via a road or railroad track.
7. I may install an economy plugin, it depends how secure I can make it.

So this is how things are going to be I'm sure everyone will have fun. I know iRand is going to mention how with the last SMP server it all failed because people didn't trade. But I don't believe that is why it failed. It failed because the Admins and Mods cheated by spawning items for themselves and it failed because iconomy allowed cheating too so the whole economy was screwed a few days in. Plus we had Stargates but it messed up because the developer was an idiot. The new stargate plugin is now made by someone else who is much more talented and it's much much better, I've already installed it on the SMP server so you can try it out

Here are some of the advantages to the new stargate plugin:

1. It now supports permissions and works reliably 100% of the time
2. Gates can be passworded! so only people with your pass can open a connection to your gate!
3. You can create your own 'Network' of gates where only a specific gate within the network can dial another gate within that network
4. Gates now work between the nether and the main world.

The SMP Server has now launched. You can access it via mc.renmx.com:2 or its old address which is mc.renmx.com:3300

I'd recommend using the :2 address as I may remove the 3300 one.

Basically this is how you build a gate. There isn't really any instructions.



You need 18 Obsidian and one button - OR - instead of a button you can use a lever. If you choose to use a lever then you need one cobble and one stick. Combine those to make a lever.

The sign you don't need as the gate makes that itself once you complete a gate. After building a gate like the image above simply hit the lever/button and it will tell you to type /wxcomplete blahblah so for example you might make a gate by typing /wxcomplete riven1 and then people can dial your gate by going to any other gate and typing /dial riven1.

It's pretty simple - And remember you need a Diamond Pickaxe to mine Obsidian.

I think we should ditch the lock plugin and get another lock plugin which is called "Lockette", to use it you need to get a sign and put it infront of your chest and write

And if you want more owners, make another sign next to it.

The good thing with this is that you can see who locked your chest which will prevent griefing, and admins with WorldEdit can remove the locks if their chest got locked by someone else.

And Lockette won't glitch out like the /lock plugin does.

You can also lock furnaces and doors & I think you can lock workbenches.

What this man just said is what I agree 99.9% with. The current lock mod doesn't even allow me to delete chests since the "Chest locked/unlocked" message always appears and not a damn thing happens when the chest brakes.
