To start, you need to click the little envelope in the top right menu on your screen.
Then, you'll see a button that says "New PM" above your previous messages. Click on it.
You'll be brought to a window where you can fill out the message and subject but also where you add people who you are messaging. This is where it gets confusing. Click the "Find a member" link under the box and you can type and search a name. Once you find it, click it, and it will add that person as a recipient.
