PSA about name changing

You guys may have read that Mojang intends to add the ability for players to change their names in a future version of Minecraft after 1.8

I am making this post because before you rush to change your username you need to understand what will be affected. Firstly your rank on the server will dissapear the moment you change username, as will your ability to manage your town, any plots you have will also be locked to your old username, your Rennies will be lost, your access to our online shop will be lost and your current amount of placed votes and referrals will be lost.

So why will all these things happen? Because all of these things are attached to your username and if you change it you will lose access to them.

Please do not change your username unless you understand these consequences. I am not going to go through hundreds of configuration files changing your name for you. So make preperations before you change your name. For example:

Give your Rennies to someone else to hold for you between changing your name
If you're a mayor, give your town to someone else.
If you have a rank you want to keep let a staff member know before you change your name what your new name will be.
Be prepared to lose your current vote and referral amounts

What would happen if somebody changes their name to something along a staff members? Examples being VodkaLK, Psico46, Stephanie_VV, etc.

If the string is different then nothing will happen. As we know "a" as a string does not equal "ax" and since a username cannot be the same as someone else's ( for example if user input string "a" == " name in database string "a" then it's not a valid option for a new name) Then we would not be affected since only player with string name "a" is a moderator or admin. So while we could have as many PsicoX (x being any real number) there cannot be more than one Psico45 so long as I have that name Registered.

I understand that you lose all of your money, I can ask a staff to change my rank beforehand, and that I lose all of my town related things, but what about donator hearts/flying ability?
I read and could see anything clear about it, unless that falls in with server rank?
Sorry if i'm just being ignorant, i'm just really curious.

Happy re-read my earlier post. Bear in mind association. Try this, if you have a gold fish and you buy lots of stuff that can only fit a gold fish but suddenly someone replaces that gold fish with a shark then obviously all of the gold fish stuff won't fit the shark. The name change is equivalent of replacing the gold fish. If you do then nothing that was registered to your previous name will be registered to the new one.
