We have an XP mod installed on the Survival server now which grants XP for destroying ores similar to when you kill a mob. I'm confident that this will raise everyones XP levels to make enchanting of tools something people actually do. I'll tweak the rates at which XP is earned from mining as time goes on.

This shows the enchantment when you scroll over it. I will show you a pic of the singleplayer mod (there is a mod for single player but a plugin for multiplayer) Its the exact same thing

Yeah i agree. Choosing your enchantment would be amazing.

Im sick of spending literally hours getting to 47 and 48 and getting unbreaking IV or something.
The punishment should be left to the grinding element, and not the random outcome of results.

+1 for the enchantment mod. I don't want to clog this thread but I feel strongly about this one as well. I use it on my home server and it works well but it does require a client side mod to work so that would be the major problem I am sure.

My thing is that enchanting is like brewing - a purposeful activity. Especially considering the use of books and bookshelves. If you were asking gods for some kind of favor that would be one thing but enchanting implies you know what you are trying to do.
